This Privacy Policy explains what information Vexbound (“we”, “us”, the “Game”) collects when you play, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the game and its online features.
1. Who is responsible

2. What we store
2.1 On your device (local storage)
We use your browser’s local storage — not tracking cookies — to remember:
- A random, anonymous player ID (a UUID) generated on your device.
- Your chosen display name (alias).
- Your settings (such as audio preferences) and single-player campaign progress.
This data stays on your device and is sent to our server only when you play online.
2.2 On our server (online play only)
When you play an online match, our server stores:
- Your anonymous player ID and display name.
- Your ranking (ELO rating) and win/loss record.
- Basic match records (who played, the result, and timing) for the leaderboard.
We do not ask for, or store, your real name, email, address or payment details.
2.3 Technical logs
Like any web service, our server temporarily processes connection metadata — including IP addresses — to deliver gameplay, prevent abuse and apply rate limiting. These logs are short-lived and are not used to build advertising profiles.
3. Cookies and tracking
Vexbound does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. We use only local storage that is strictly necessary for the game to function. If we add product analytics in the future, we will use a privacy-friendly, cookieless solution and update this policy.
4. Legal basis (GDPR)
For players in the EU/EEA, we process data on these bases:
- Performance of a service — to let you play, save progress and compete online.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent cheating and abuse, and maintain a fair leaderboard.
5. Third parties
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. Our game and server are hosted on infrastructure we operate; our hosting provider processes data only on our behalf. We do not sell your data.
6. Data retention
Local data remains until you clear your browser storage. Account and match data on our server is kept while the leaderboard is active. You can ask us to delete your server-side record at any time (see below).
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] with your player ID (you can find it in the game’s settings). You may also clear local data yourself by clearing your browser storage for this site.
8. Children
Vexbound is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the game evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Continued play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
